Preamble
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is a
statutory body under Ministry of Human
Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India enacted by
the Parliament through AICTE Act 1986 with
view for proper
planning and coordinated development of technical education system throughout
the
country, the promotion of qualitative improvement of such
education in relation to planned quantitative
growth and the regulation and proper maintenance of norms
and standards in the technical education.
AICTE in its mission to reduce the burden of students in
attending to multiple examinations has
institutions to select suitable students for admission in
all management programs approved by AICTE
from year 2012-13. The initiative was taken to address
the issue of physical, mental and financial stress
being imposed on the students through number of entrance
examinations being followed by the
institutions for admission into all Management Programmes
in AICTE approved institutions.
AICTE further decided to conduct CMAT twice a year from
2013 for facilitating institutions to select
suitable students for admission in all management
programmes approved by AICTE. The first round is
conducted in September and second in February. The scores
are awarded and All India Merit List is
prepared for both the examinations. Better of the two
scores are used for admission.
AICTE has now decided to conduct CMAT in Foreign
Countries for facilitating eligible NRIs/PIOs and
foreign nationals to appear in CMAT for seeking admission
in institutions in India following CMAT
merit list for 2014-15 under special provisions defined
in AICTE Approval Process and against all
vacancies left after completion of centralized admission
in management institutions.
